Richara’s ADHD-Friendly Student Rhythm — Updated

Richara’s ADHD-Friendly Student Rhythm

Updated weekly template for Summer 2026: Academic Writing Tuesday/Thursday mornings, Social Issues Sociology Tuesday afternoon, Creative Writing Friday morning, algebra self-study, George walks, movement, food, rest, and gentle content creation.

What should I be doing right now?

Find the day, find the block, do the next small thing. If your brain says, “I did nothing today,” first check whether you attended class, walked George, fed yourself, handled admin, moved your body, or downloaded the textbook. Those count. The productivity goblin is not a reliable witness.

  • Morning: best for writing, hard reading, assignments, and concept learning.
  • After class: recovery first, then a short capture of due dates and next steps.
  • Afternoon: lighter study, algebra self-study, admin, movement, or catch-up.
  • Evening: food, George, gentle review, wind-down. No academic heroics.

The Summer Mission

Your main goal is not to do everything perfectly. Your main goal is to build a sustainable rhythm for September: class attendance, active recall, reading routines, writing routines, energy protection, and confidence.

School comes first. Content creation is a small ember, not a bonfire.

Daily Anchors

Morning Setup

  • Wake around 6:00.
  • Hydrate, coffee, light stretch or Qi Gong.
  • George walk #1.
  • Breakfast + Today Card: one main school goal, one small task, one life task.

ADHD Study Rules

  • Understanding is not the same as recall.
  • Every study block ends with 5 minutes of active recall.
  • Use 25–45 minute focus blocks, then move.
  • Leave a “next step” note before stopping.

George Walks

  • Morning: before the day gets noisy.
  • Midday: recovery, digestion, or transition.
  • Evening: close the loop on the day.
  • Use walks to talk through concepts out loud.

Energy Protection

  • Phone calls are scheduled, not automatic.
  • Quick check-ins with Mom are best while walking or in a bounded window.
  • Emotionally draining calls do not go before deep work or class.
  • After a big conversation, assume you need recovery.

Digital Conference / Special Event Overlay

For the manifestation conference or any optional online event: treat it as inspiration, not obligation.

  • Attend the first 30–60 minutes if curious.
  • Write one useful insight.
  • If it feels lukewarm, leave without guilt.
  • Do not let optional content displace school anchors.

Phone + Social Energy Rules

Phone Calls

  • You do not have to answer just because the phone rings.
  • Use “I’ll call you later” as a boundary, not a betrayal.
  • Keep emotionally full calls out of morning study windows.
  • Best times: walking George, late afternoon, or planned social windows.

After a Draining Call

  • Take 10–20 minutes before judging the day.
  • Walk, hydrate, breathe, reset.
  • Do one tiny next action only.
  • Do not try to “make up for lost time” with panic productivity.

When Life Interrupts the Schedule

The minimum viable school day:

  • 20 minutes of reading, writing, or algebra.
  • 5 minutes of active recall.
  • Write tomorrow’s first task.

That’s enough to keep the thread alive. No shame spiral required. We are not available for that appointment.

Weekend Away / Visiting Family Version

Day Away Minimum Academic Action Notes
Friday Before leaving: 20-minute cleanup, write what is due next. Do not bring the whole semester emotionally in the car.
Saturday Optional: 20-minute reading or flashcards only. Family time counts as life. Let it.
Sunday Evening: 30-minute reset for Monday. Pick the first task. That is the magic.
